Project goal

This project focuses on increasing and improving the income situation for adolescents and young adults, especially young mothers. By teaching agricultural techniques, the teenagers and young adults will be able to grow and harvest agricultural produce for their own use and for marketing after the end of the project. Women and young mothers are particularly encouraged to discover and utilise their potential.

Holistic personal development

In groups of 35 people each, all participants go through the three training topics of life skills, management and technical skills in the field of organic farming. Together, they cultivate a training field and develop economic strategies and business ideas in a marketing and enterprise committee. For the young women among the participants, who have a reduced self-image of their own abilities and talents in the often patriarchal social structure, special gender-appropriate training courses have been developed to make up for this deficit.

Establishment of financial cooperatives

During the project, each group of participants establishes a financial co-operative for the joint efficient accumulation of assets. Each member can use these savings to obtain low-interest loans to develop their own independence in the agricultural sector. The co-operative also ensures that each individual’s investment plans are aimed at a sustainable project and are based on an economically viable business plan.

Our local partner

Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT) was founded in 2011. SAT’s work focuses on promoting the sustainable, economic and social development of disadvantaged population groups while preserving natural resources and the environment. To this end, SAT employees travel to the project regions, some of which are remote, in order to reach particularly needy population groups.
