About Vietnam
Vietnam is a coastal country in Southeast Asia, bordered to the east by the South China Sea. In the south lies the Mekong Delta, one of the most fertile regions in the world. With a population of nearly 100 million people, Vietnam has a relatively young demographic: about 25% of its citizens are under the age of 15. Vietnam is an ethnically diverse nation, home to over 50 ethnic groups, each with their own languages, traditions, and cultural customs. The largest ethnic group is the Kinh (Viet), who make up about 86% of the population.
Our Work
Our collaboration with our local partner focuses on providing the population in rural areas of Vietnam with safe drinking water. We achieve this by installing drinking water treatment stations. In addition to supplying drinking water, we are also making a contribution to preventive healthcare in the fight against diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
Major Challenges
One of the biggest challenges in Vietnam concerns the situation of families in rural areas. Although Vietnam has grown economically, many families do not benefit sufficiently from this progress. In particular, access to healthcare and clean water is often limited, which particularly affects children and women. Many families in rural areas are heavily dependent on agriculture, but climate change, droughts and flooding threaten their livelihoods. In addition, the infrastructure in these areas is underdeveloped, which makes access to markets and services more difficult and further increases poverty.
